Breathing Devices for Emergency, also referred as EEBD, are projected for ships evacuation and escape onboard in compartments where there is a hazardous atmosphere or where the existing oxygen level is quite low. Those should not be used to firefight.
EEBDs are available in engine rooms and are required for spaces with fixed extinguishing systems. During its storage, these should be adequately protected from external conditions and will keep the pressure indicator visible.
EEBDs characteristics (it can change throw the chosen model):
• Durable and reliable manufacturing with reduce maintenance
• Material fire resistant and flame retardant
• Hood that covers face totally (adjustable to all people)
• Hood with large visor mask
• Anti-fogging device for the visor
• Head insulation system not irritating and Ozone resistant
• 15 minutes continuous air supply (other models allow an air flux until 30 minutes)
• Pressure manometer with easy visual access
• Pressure manometer anti-shock and anti-explosion
• Utilization temperature between -10ºC to 65ºC
• SOLAS and IMO approvals
